Zur Mühlen Group – the name stands for a wide range of high-class meat and sausage specialties made in traditional top quality. The high-tech production lines of the zur Mühlen Group facilitate an efficient and flexible production of award-winning quality products of various categories and forms of presentation.

All quality management activities are centrally controlled in the modern technology center in Satrup. The state-of-the-art laboratories for microbiology, chemistry, molecular biology and sensor technology guarantee certified quality standards and unconditional product safety. Along the entire value adding chain all products undergo regular testing and analysis in internal, as well as external independent laboratories, thus guaranteeing a permanent quality assurance.

Integrated management System for maximum quality standard

The zur Mühlen Group stands for great taste and an outstanding quality. The aim of quality assurance is to guarantee the zur Mühlen Group’s high standard of quality at all times. That means the raw materials, as well as the finished products, have to undergo sensory, chemical, microbiological and technical testing.

Quality is the top priority for all zur Mühlen Group companies. In order to maintain and develop that traditional high standard of quality, the Group operates an integrated quality management system. As a result, the zur Mühlen Group meets not only national but also highest international standards according to BRC, Bio-Organic, Halal, IFS, ISO and the QS testing system certification.

International Featured Standards

As one of the first German companies, the zur Mühlen Group was certified according to the "International Featured Standards (IFS)". The certificate is checked regularly by independent auditors from qualified institutes. The IFS criteria "Higher Level" symbolizes that the company satisfies the very highest recognized international quality stage which trade organizations demand from their suppliers.


British Retail Consortium

The zur Mühlen Group is also certified in accordance with the guidelines of the British Retail Consortium (BRC). This trade association of the British wholesalers and retailers focusses on product safety, food laws and the environment within the European Community.


Quality Testing System

The QS testing system guarantees the consumer a quality assurance across all stages of production. All plants in the zur Mühlen Group are subject to the three-stage QS control system that checks the food production process from its origins through processing up to and including the marketing of the products. The consumer recognizes QS-inspected products by the QS symbol.



The zur Mühlen Group was certified according to this ecological standard in 2007 allowing us to use the Bio stamp on all products produced accordingly. Our organic production is monitored by the state-approved inspection body IMO (DE-ÖKO-005). This means that the zur Mühlen Group is regularly audited by the Institute for Brand Ecology. Neutral Eco control offices audit suppliers and buyers on a regular basis.



Since 2014 several of the zur Mühlen Group’s production facilities are Halal-certified. Therefore, the production sites are being checked and audited on a regular basis by Halal Europe in order to make sure that all requirements for a Halal-compliant production is guaranteed. This not only contains the use and traceability of the Halal-compliant raw materials and recipes, but also the guarantee that these cannot be contaminated by non-compliant raw materials, products or detergents. Furthermore, a great emphasis is being put on the slaughter and traceability of the products.



Being forward-looking and acting economical is important to us. Therefore, we are taking environmental aspects into account when making entrepreneurial decisions. Environmental and energy management systems are serving as a basis for those decisions and are checked and certified on a regular basis by the International Organisation for Standardization (ISO). The ISO is a national and international approved certification authority of the TÜV SÜD and its certificates are widespread and trusted. Therefore, it is also important for us to have ISO as a standard certificate for our locations.



Not many companies in Germany are allowed to export their meat and sausage products to the Unites States of America. However, the zur Mühlen Group is one of these companies, as some production sites have been accredited by the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture). The respective production sites have been checked and certified by the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) and the German Ministry for Energy Transition, Agriculture, Nature and Digitization to be allowed to export their products to USA.
